german sweet and sour onions

1/2 -	c	sugar in 1 cup measure cider vinegar to fill cup	mix and heat gently 'til sugar dissolves; let cool a little
2	ea	onions, medium	slice thinly and put in serving bowl
pour dressing over onions and serve as relish for boiled meats
